Edge Transceiver: Configure Standalone Mode Parameters

Is it possible to select a channel for the FSE-TCVR-50 when using it in stand alone / site survey mode?

Yes, it is possible to configure both standalone channels and power level of the FSE-TCVR-50 Edge Transceiver using the beltpack’s menu.

Standalone mode is useful for RF coverage testing and proof-of-concept demos. No base station required. [Link to separate article on how to enable Standalone mode]

Once connected to a transceiver in standalone mode. Enter the menu and go to: System -> Standalone sub-menu. NB: only one Beltpack at a time can access this menu for one standalone transceiver. If you try to enter the standalone menu while another Beltpack is connected, the connection will never be successful. Same applies for the registration of the Beltpack, it is not possible to perform a registration to the standalone transceiver while another Beltpack is connected via BLE.

 

Entering this sub-menu will trigger a BLE connection toward the transceiver.

 

When the connection is established, the IP address, RF channels and current power level will be accessible.

 

To modify a RF channel, enter the menu setter using the left arrow (D button), select required value then press the right arrow (C button) to apply the new value. RF channels in the list should follow the current transceiver’s country setting (not all channels are available for each country). It is also recommended to avoid selecting adjacent or identical channels for both QCAs (This type of configuration will not work properly on the transceiver). However, this operation is allowed for transition purpose (example: I want to swap QCA1 and QCA2 values, so for a short period of time, QCA1 and QCA2 may have the same value while doing the transition) but the final configuration should follow this recommendation.

 To modify power level, enter the menu setter using the left arrow (D button), select required value from 1 to 24 dBm then press the right arrow (C button) to apply the new value. The power level might be limited following the current transceiver’s country setting. Applying a value of 24 dBm might result in a configured value of 20 dBm on the transceiver. This feedback will be visible instantaneously while in the standalone’s menu.
