WHat is Z-Sync for Tempest and why do I need it?
ZSync is the new synchronizing dongle used when linking multiple Tempest basestations together. It must be used when using the ROAMING feature of connecting together two or more bases so BPs can "roam" between stationsZSync is recommended for all multi-base systems. Tempest’s new ZSync technology coordinates 2.4GHz BaseStations’frequencies to allow up to 11 BaseStations to work together without inter-base interference. Without ZSync, multi-base systems can experience start-up to start-up variation that can cause RF performance to suffer. Using ZSync ensures that all of the BaseStations’ hopping patterns are aligned correctly and that no two BaseStations try to use the same frequency at the same time. To gain the benefit of ZSync all BaseStations and Remote Transceivers (CCT-RTs) must have version 1.18 radios.ZSync comes in two form factors. A single basestation SG-100 wall-wart style dongle, which puts the ZSync signal into the 1st base in a chain and the others are daisy chained with standard serial 9pin cable (only the first five pins are used), or a 1RU multi port panel SG-120 serving many basestations with its one in and 12 out backplane.
