FSII-BASE-II Firmware Update Guide
Here is a quick guide to updating firmware on a FSII-BASE-II system. To summarize, you will first update the FSII-BASE-II Base Station, then all Transceivers, and finally the Beltpacks. The last part takes the longest (approx. 20 mins).
Before you begin, download all 3 Firmware file types (Base Station, Transceivers, and Beltpacks). Un-zip the external folders and have the .gz files ready to upload to the CCM.
Current firmware can be found here: https://www.clearcom.com/Download-Center/Product-Resources/productId/14571/contentTypeId/7
NOTE: For a FSII-BASE-II system, you will need the files labeled FreeSpeak II 1.9GHz Transceiver Firmware NOT the version with IP in the name.
First, upgrade the base station firmware via the CCM. This should only take a couple of minutes.
Log in with a web browser
Click the Device tab on the top.
Make sure General box is selected, then scroll down to the bottom of the page and open the Upgrade drop down menu.
Click Select File, and navigate to where your upgrade file is saved on your PC, select and open. The file should be a .gz (compressed file).
The system will upload the new firmware to your base. Once loaded, the Upgrade button will highlight blue, and click to continue.
Once the loading bar is complete the system should reboot itself. After rebooting you can verify the firmware has been updated by navigating on the Base Station front panel to: Menu - Administration - Software.
Next, update the Transceivers. This should only take a couple of minutes as well.
Make sure all antennas are cabled and connected to the system.
Repeat steps 1-4 from the previous update, but navigate to the TCVR firmware file this time.
Once that has finished reboot the system.
You can verify the firmware for each TCVR via the front panel: Menu - Transceiver - [TCVR #] - Version.
Lastly, update the FSII Beltpacks. NOTE: this should take about 20 minutes total (10 minutes to upload the firmware to all Transceivers, and another 10 minutes for it to be processed by all Beltpacks).
All Beltpacks must be powered on and registered to the base station first.
Again, follow the steps 1-4 from the update process, but navigate to the BP firmware file this time.
The system will upload the firmware to your Transceivers to be sent over the air to the beltpacks. Once uploaded to the Transceivers, each Beltpack will have a loading bar to display progress.
It is possible that a beltpack might stall during this update process and appear to freeze. This is fine, if it happens, just power cycle the beltpack and it should automatically continue the upgrade process.
Once all beltpacks have completed the upgrade process, reboot the system.
You can verify each beltpack was updated via the front panel: Menu - Beltpack - [Beltpack ID] - Version
