Tempest: How does the Tempest Beltpack battery indicator screen work?

Question:  How does the Tempest beltpack battery indicator on the LCD screen work?  It seems to read differently with the rechargeable Li-Poly battery compared to standard alkaline batteries when they are used on the beltpack. 

Answer: 
When using the Ll-Poly battery the LCD battery indicator will show remaining battery life in 15 minute increments.
When using standard AAA alkaline batteries the battery indicator will show full status until 20 minutes of battery life is remaining on the beltpack.
