How do I run multiple Virtual Panels on the same PC?

The following guide explains how to install multiple instances of the Trilogy Virtual Panel on the same P.C.

Step-by-step guide

1. Install the Virtual Panel via the Trilogy software installer.  Note: To do this, you must be logged in as an Administrator.

2.  Right-click on the "C:\Program Files\Trilogy\Trilogy V5\VirtualPanel" folder. Select 'Properties' and go to the 'Security' tab. Note: For a 64 bit machine, it is “C:\Program Files (x86)\ Trilogy\Trilogy V5\VirtualPanel” folder.

3.  Click the 'Edit' button to change permissions and select the 'Users' group from "Group or user names".

4.  Tick 'Write' in the 'Allow' column, then click 'OK'.

5.  Create a "VirtualPanel.cmd" file in "C:\Program Files\Trilogy\Trilogy V5\VirtualPanel" with the following content:

/rad /m

6.  Copy the contents of "C:\ProgramData\Trilogy\Trilogy V5\VirtualPanel" into "C:\Program Files\Trilogy\Trilogy V5\VirtualPanel".

7. Now copy and paste the "C:\Program Files\Trilogy\Trilogy V5\VirtualPanel" folder for as many Virutal Panels as you require.

So if you want 3 Virtual Panels, you should end up with something like this (depending on how you choose to name your folders):

"C:\Program Files\Trilogy\Trilogy V5\VirtualPanel"

"C:\Program Files\Trilogy\Trilogy V5\VirtualPanel2"

"C:\Program Files\Trilogy\Trilogy V5\VirtualPanel3"

8.  Repeat steps 2, 3 & 4 for each new copy and pasted 'VirtualPanel' folder.

9.  Create shortcuts to each new instance of "VirtualPanel.exe" if, as and where required.

10.  Run each instance of the Virtual Panel, configure their unique EDHS and you now have multiple Virtual Panels running on the same PC.

Warning: This moves the Virtual Panel application data to within the Trilogy Program Files folder and so breaks Windows conventions. It also gives Users write permissions to sub folders in the Trilogy Program Files folder and so can be considered a security risk.

This application would not make sense with multiple SIP VPs unless you had multiple audio interfaces on the PC. It may also give unexpected results when the SIP VPs make multiple SIP calls from the same peer address.
