How do I connect a 410-50-12 Beltpack to the Gemini and what are the power recommendations?

If you are using the Trilogy 410 series Beltpack then this has balanced line level audio in and out. In the Gateway Editor assign the port as a '4 wire' type for the Beltpack connection.

The Hirose mating connector part number is RM12BPE-3PH(71) it can be purchased from Farnell part number 107716.

The pin out below is a typical example on how the cable is to be wired.

The Trilogy 410-50-12 Beltpack will work down to as low as 8.5V so 12V supply will work just fine most of the time. The Beltpack draws approximately 30mA, so with knowledge of the cable resistance the cable voltage drop can be calculated.

For example, a typical 24swg CAT5E cable has typically 8 ohm resistance per 100 meters and at 30mA draw of a single Beltpack would equate to 250mV drop. As the Beltpack can tolerate a 3.5V drop on a 12V supply the absolute maximum cable run would be 1458 meters. If not all the cores of a multiway cable are used then we should recommend doubling up on the cable cores for the power rails to reduce the cable voltage drop.
