Which panel types work with the Gemini matrix?

As a general rule if the panel has an RJ45 matrix connector then it can be converted to work with a Gemini/Messenger system, if it has a 9 way D-type then it is an older design and is compatible with Commander/Orator systems only. One exception to this rule is if the 500-42 8 key Desktop has an external PSU module then it is not compatible with Gemini/Messenger.

When converting panels to work with Gemini/Messenger, for more recent models the hardware is identical but the firmware is different so the panel must be re-programmed. As you step back to earlier panels, in addition to the firmware there are some minor hardware mods to make to the panel main board (e.g. resistor changes). Any panel manufactured in the early 2000’s or older cannot be converted and is Commander/Orator type only.

Because of the range of hardware platforms used over time, there are a number of different programming devices. Sometimes our local dealer keeps one of these and can handle the re-programming, otherwise we can sell or rent one. For older panels, it is often simpler to return to the factory for the conversion to be done. For more information please see the panel FAQ section or contact support at Trilogy.
