Why is my 10 key panel not connecting to the Gemini/Messenger AEB port?

The reason for the panel not connecting to the matrix may be one of the following reasons.

  1. Cable fault. To prove if the defect is related to the cable between the matrix and the panel please plug the 10 key panel into the cable used for a known working panel.
  2. The cable is plugged into the wrong RJ45 port on the rear of the 10 key panel. This panel has three RJ45 connections on the rear of the panel, the correct RJ45 connector is the one labelled ‘Matrix’.
  3. The panel is not configured to connect to a Messenger / Gemini system. When the panel has power applied to it, the front display will report which connection type it has been configured for. For the panel to connect to either a Messenger or Gemini matrix the display should say ‘Gemini’ when powered up. If the display says ‘Gemini/Eth’, ‘Commander’ or ‘V3’ it is not set top the correct mode. The panel mode can be set in the panel set-up menu as follows:

Step-by-step guide

  1. To enter the panel set-up menu, hold the assign key up and at the same time rotate the panel encoder.             


  2. Once in the diagnostic menu, select the Other > More > Edit
  3. From the panel type menu then choose the ‘Gemini’ option.

  4. Now disconnect the mains power to the panel and then re-apply the power to the panel, it should now report ‘Gemini’ on the display when it powers up.
