How can I remote control the panel loudspeaker cut function?

There are a number of options to remotely cut the front panel loudspeaker.

Option 1 – Local closure on the panel:

The front panel cut switch can be remote controlled by a contact closure on the audio 15 way D type connector on the rear of the panel. By shorting pins 4 and 12 on the Audio 15 way D type connector, the cut switch indicator will light and the cut switch function will action whilst the pins are shorted. Ensure the panel cut switch function is set to cut the loudspeaker via the Gateway Editor > Advanced Panel Editor > Settings page.

Option 2 – Using a GPI:

The loudspeaker can be set to cut when a GPI input is actioned. This can be any panel or matrix GPI input defined within the system. The GPI is configured from the Panel Advanced editor > General page as shown below.

Option 3 – Using an IFB:

A GPIO input or output (for example an On Air closure) can be assigned as an IFB trigger to prevent routes being made to a matrix output on the system. The port output you wish to be inhibited when a GPIO is actioned is assigned as the IFB destination, this can be a Panel/4 wire/MADI/FXO or Virtual port type.

In the interrupts list, assign the GPIO you wish to use as a trigger to inhibit the audio, this can be any system or panel GPIO. Set the GPIO to a high priority interrupt value, for example ‘1’ and set all the interrupt sources to a lower priority interrupt value, for example ‘3’. When the GPIO is actioned the lower value interrupt sources will now be inhibited from speaking to the IFB destination. Finally set the IFB action to ‘Cut’.

The example below shows a Floor panel loudspeaker/headphone audio being inhibited when the On Air GPI is active.
