9300

Cisco SKU: C9300L-24P-4G-A (The “-A” stands for the Advantage license which turns on the PTP support) with the additional DNA license possibly being an optional item.

PTP aware (TC/BC mode)

*some switches have broadcast storm control setting. If it’s enabled, it treats PTP clock data like a broadcast and starts dumping the packets. Disable the broadcast storm control
(check Cisco subscription license to have PTP included)

Jul 11, 2024 Note when in BC mode , the 9300 only supports 2-STEP PTP mode

Feb 21, 2025 SEE NOTE ABOUT PoE ISSUES WITH V17.14

Good - See Remarks

IMPORTANT NOTE - There is a known bug in v17.14.1 and earlier where the PoE does not negotiate with the IP Transceiver correctly, leading to the IPT failing. It is recommended you have the switch on v17.16 or better.

This document provides additional information on the findings of this problem and a workaround to fix it.

Cisco 9300 has a PTP limitation where the fastest announce interval is 0 (1 second).

You will need to change IPA PTP settings to match.

PTP settings are as follows:-

image-20250710-125824.png

If using in BC mode, the PTP GM , IPA card and Cisco 9300 PTP setting must all match

Note that the Cisco default for SYNC INTERVAL is 0.  The IPA and Mentor default value is -3 (AES Media Profile).

We've found setting the 9300 to '-3' SYNC INTERVAL improved PTP sync (max offset plot improved)
