Wireless: CellCom base station firmware updates to older metal front panel units

CellCom base stations could be up to 5 years old if it has the old grey metal front panel.  When the units were first released by FCC use in the United States in November 2005 (remember that only the CEL-TA and CEL-BP have FCC ID numbers, the base and splitter do not transmitt or receiver RF data) the memory simms card was 16MB and the boot prom was version Boot V.02.  The memory version can be checked on the front panel display by going to the info screen.
The good news is these older metal front panel units should upgrade to the current version 2.0.3 release even if it has the old boot prom and 16M simms card.  We have seen several old non-ROHS metal panel versions migrated thru all the CellCom versions successfully. When upgrading a pre V1.5.6 old metal front basestation to the current V2.0.3, we recommend changing the basestation boot prom and simms card Old base stations that reside at version 1.5.6 or earlier should be upgraded to 1.5.7 first and then have version 2.0.3 pushed into it.
