Wireless: Why does the 2 channel Tempest System have only one antenna?

The Tempest 2 channel base station has only one transmit/receive antenna on the rear panel of the base station.  The single antenna still provides the second data repeat transmission to the beltpacks, the only loss is the spatial and polarization diversity that two antennas on the 4 channel base station provides.
The diversity functionality can be added to the 2 channel Tempest base station by the use of the remote antenna module (CCT-RT) which has two antenna stalks.  It is compatible with the 2 channel base station.
