Wireless: "Network Number" and "Lockout Key" in Tempest 2400 systems, and how to set them.

Tempest uses Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum as a tool to playnicely in the RF space with other wireless items, such as RF routers, securitycameras, ticket taking scanners, etc. The Network number sets the RF frequencyhopping pattern of a Tempest Base station and its associated beltpacks. This algorithmkeeps the beltpacks and base station always knowing where they are in the RFspectrum at any given time. Each Base station MUST have a different NetworkNumber assigned, within the same Network Number Group. There is a theoreticallimit of eleven base stations in any given group or RF-space system. (seebelow).Group 1 = Network Number 0-10Group 2 = Network Number 11-21Group 3 = Network Number 22-32Group 4 = Network Number 33-42For example, if you have a 3 Base station system with ZSyncconnected, your Base station Network Numbers should be set to: Base station 1 =Network Number 0, Base station 2 = Network Number 1, Base station 3 = NetworkNumber 2.Failing to keep your Base stations on different Network Numberswithin the same Network Number Group can cause disruptive RF interferencebetween Base stations. Both these parameters can be set in the base station's menu at: BASE STATION SETTINGS / TECH MENU / RADIO CONFIGURATIONSAlso, remember to keep the same Security Key for all related bases in the roaming "network". Make sure all beltpacks are paired to all bases and that, in the ROAMING menu, all bases are checked, as well as the ROAMING option at the top of that menu. Select all the bases first, then the ROAMING option.
