Please Note:

Station-IC currently only supports connections to Eclipse 12.1 systems with available E-IPA / IVC ports.

Station-IC will be updated in 2021Q2 to include support for LQ running version 4.2 and higher.

This article provides overview and details regarding licensing of Station-IC.

Station-IC connects to either Eclipse and LQ
Station-IC operating in demo mode, or licensed, can be used to connect to either Eclipse or LQ. Separate licenses per host intercom system type are not required.

Station-IC licenses are hosted on the user’s computer
Unlike Agent-IC, Station-IC licenses are hosted on the users computers, guaranteeing the user a license.

Demo Mode – for system testing and demonstration use
When installed, without a license, Station-IC operates in Demo Mode.  This allows the user to connect to an Eclipse or LQ system to test network connectivity and configuration without using a license.  Demo mode restricts the user to connect for 10 minutes, 24 times in 24 hours and injects an audio watermark. When connected to an intercom system while in demo mode, Station-IC shows a red border with a countdown until disconnection.

Purchasing Station-IC Licenses

Station-IC licenses can be purchased from Clear-Com in two different ways;

  • as Event Licenses for time-limited needs

  • as Subscription Licenses for ongoing use.

Licenses are purchased via Clear-Com’s regular sales channel.

Event Licenses – for time-limited needs
Event licenses allow for simple to manage time-limited use of Station-IC.  Event licenses are sold for a duration of either 1 week or 1 month.

Event licenses are intended for time limited event use, surge capacity, emergencies, extended demonstrations or other ad-hoc requirements and can be considered to be consumable licenses. Event licenses require no management following their use and an additional Event license can be added following the expiration of the previous one or a Subscription license can be loaded.

  • Single Event licenses should be loaded one at a time. If multiple Event licenses of the same type are loaded by accident , the computer will still be licensed but please contact Clear-Com Support to recover any extra licenses that may have been loaded.

  • Event License duration starts upon first connection to an intercom system following license activation. This way the Event License can be loaded onto the computer during preparation but will only start to deplete when connected to the intercom.

  • Adding multiple Event licenses of the same type (in a single operation), before the duration has expired will not extend the total duration time of the license on the PC.

  • Event Licenses cannot be Re-Hosted to a License Ticket.  Event Licenses are consumable licenses.

  • Countdown, showing the remaining time of the license, is always visible to the users of Event licenses.

Subscription Licenses – for ongoing use
Subscription licenses provide the lowest daily cost for Station-IC. Subscription licenses are sold in 1 year increments and require a Subscription Initiation license which includes the first year of usage and can then be extended with Subscription Extension licenses which each add an incremental year of validity to the operation of Station-IC.

  • Multiple subscription extension licenses can be loaded onto a single computer for an extended validity. Example: user would like Station-IC for 3 years on a computer, a single subscription initiation license and two subscription extensions licenses can be loaded onto the computer in a single operation.

  • Subscription license validity will start when first activated on a computer. The time of first activation will set the date the operation of Station-IC will stop if not extended with additional licenses.

  • Should there be a gap between a subscription license expiring and an extension being loaded the extension will start from the time the subscription expired.

  • Subscription licenses can be Re-Hosted from the computer back to the License Ticket ID it originated from for storage or re-deployment on a different computer. The license validity (expiry date) will not pause while Re-Hosted back on the License Ticket ID

  • When changing from Subscription License to Event License the subscription license must be removed before installing an Event License.

  • A countdown, showing the remaining time of the license, will be visible to users once 30 days remain of the license.

License Delivery

Station-IC licenses are delivered from Clear-Com by email or physical letter and provide the user with a License Ticket ID which can contain multiple licenses that can then be deployed on multiple computers by the holder of the License Ticket ID.

If ordering Station-IC licenses for multiple customers / projects on the same PO order to Clear-Com, please specify which licenses should be included on each License Ticket ID.

Existing License Ticket ID scan be re-loaded with additional licenses if specified at the time of order and the existing License Ticket ID number is submitted with the order for new licenses. This can be convenient for license owners to manage inventories of licenses.

Example of License Ticket

License Deployment and Management - Online
Station-IC licenses are extracted from the License Ticket ID to the CodeMeter license software on the computer running Station-IC using the online WebDepot (a cloud-based) tool to manage licenses.

When a valid License Ticket ID is entered into the WebDepot the WebDepot displays the licenses (Event and or Subscription) available on the ticket and allows the user to apply / install the license to the computer running Station-IC.  The computer running Station-IC must have the CodeMeter license management software installed for it to be licensed.

The CodeMeter software acts as a container for the license and has a unique CmContainer number.  WebDepot online tool can additionally be used to Re-Host Subscription licenses from the computer back to the License Ticket for storage or use on a different computer.

License Deployment and Management – Offline
Station-IC computers can also be licensed even when offline.  This is done by generating a context file from the CodeMeter software running on the computer to be licensed. The context file is then used to initiate a “File Based Transfer” within the WebDepot which returns a file to load into the offline computer.  The same method can be used to Re-Host a license to the ticket or another computer.
See further information in the Station-IC manual for further information on offline license transfers.
