Matrix: Wiring a foot pedal to a V-panel for Mic Activation of Pre-Selected Talk Keys

Wire a Male DB-25 connector to a foot pedal and plug in to the panels Female GPIO connection.

To trigger either Logic 1 or Logic 2, follow the wiring guidelines below.

Pin 22 (Logic 1) or 23 (Logic 2) will go to the relay (Foot Pedal) and then back to ground (pins 8 or 9), while pins 10 (Logic 1) or 11 (Logic 2) will get jumped to the 5V pins 20 or 21.

Once the foot pedal and panel are wired, program the panel logic in EHX.

Under “Cards and Ports” select the panel that has the foot pedal attached. Under Panel Properties on the right find “Logic Input Options.” Now change Logic Input 1 (or 2, depending on which Logic pins were wired) to “Activate All Pre-Selected Talk Keys” then “Apply Map to Matrix.” This will activate the mic only when the foot pedal is being pressed. Please note that if no talk keys are currently latched, the mic and mic light will not activate when foot pedal is pressed. Another note, if a key is momentarily pressed it will also enable the mic without the foot pedal needing to be engaged.

Other Logic Input options often used with foot pedals are,
