LQ: Trigger GPO via Control Event

“Using a Agent-IC client connected to a LQ-GPIO unit. My customer wants to talk out into the PA system of 2 different zones in a railway station, and at the same time, he also wants a relay GPO to be activated. Using a LQ-4WG2 and an AGENT-IC Client, with 2 channels, attached to 2 different 4W ports to distribute the audio to the 2 different PA system. But during the tests, I face an issue with the GPO part:

  • On LQ, it is not possible, at the same time and with the same button, to activate a GPO AND a talk function, right the Agent IC client. There is no stack key option or “GPO control by button press” in the LQ world

Solution : Correct - it is not possible to stack keys on the Agent IC client when its connected to a LQ device. The closest configuration to this would be a latching/latched talk key paired with a Control Event key on the same keyset (as in Channel 1 in the example below.)

  • So I though about splitting the audio output from the 4W port of the LQ unit, and send it to the PA system AND at the same time loop it back in a spare 4W input, to activate the VOX function and the “vox action triggers”. It works, and we can see the control button on the AGENT-IC is switched ON (screenshot 1). BUT the GPO is not activated, even if it is set to be control by “control event 1”.

It is not possible to trigger a GPO from the same 4w port where a Vox trigger is set. In order to work around this, you can move your GPO trigger to a separate port and assign that port to the same channel. This way, when a Control Event is triggered by VOX on Port X, the GPO on Port Y will be triggered as long as they are in the same channel.

In the example below, audio from the output of "3-4W-Port-F" is fed into the input of "3-4W-Port-G". See the pdf at the bottom of this page for a diagram of the set up.

“3-4W-Port-G” will send a Control Event 2 in Channel 2 when the Vox threshold is reached.

When Control Event 2 is active in Channel 2, the GPO will be triggered on "3-4W-Port-H".
