Aruba 2930F (JL263A) Setup IP Address

Out of the box the Aruba switch does not come with a default IP address so you will need to plug your computer into the Aruba’s Console Port (Via a serial cable) to set it’s VLAN 1 IP address using an Open Terminal Application such as PuTTY. Once you assign it an IP you can then access the Aruba through Telnet, SSH or the Web Browser.

  1. Connect Aruba's Console Port via micro USB or RJ45 to your computers serial/com/USB port.

  2. Open "Device Manager" on your computer to find which Serial Port (COM) the switch is on.

  3. Open Terminal Application (PuTTY Configuration)

  4. Select “Serial,” Update COM Port with number from step 2, Baud Rate should be 9600, select “Open”

  5. Press "Enter" a few times to connect.

  6. Type "show run"

  7. "conf terminal"

  8. "vlan 1"

  9. Give it an IP and Subnet mask such as "ip address 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0"

  10. "(enter)"

  11. "show run"

  12. "end"

  13. "show system"

  14. Check software version

To save these settings to the startup config, use: copy running-config startup-config

Now you can Plug your laptop via ethernet into the Aruba and access the Aruba via Telnet, SSH, or the Web Browser to continue your Switch Setup.
