Dante Sync Going Down Randomly

In a recent deployment of Dante at a customer site, there were 60+ Dante devices on the network. As it was being used, sync would randomly get lost which would lead to an audio disruption. A couple of things to consider.

  1. Make sure you are using a proper managed switch and you use different VLANS for Dante and AES67 devices. Ensure the Diffserv mapping is setup correctly to ensure there is no conflict between the Dante devices and AEs67 devices as they use different PTP versions

  2. Make sure there aren’t too many hops to the final endpoint(s)

  3. Check that you don’t have any PTPv2 devices on the network. Examples of this include but not limited to:

    1. FSII or FSEdge IP Transceivers

    2. Bolero IP Transceivers

    3. Roameo IP Transceivers that are in AES67 mode

      1. Roameo will in theory work if using Omneo since it uses Dante
