Matrix: Do I need a valid Eclipse xxx.hxn file to use PM Pro effectively?

Question:  Can I use PM Pro v8.5 without an active Eclipse HX frame connected to the software?
Answer: PM PRO works by connecting to  a live system there is a simulation mode (limited) which can be used for training or demonstration purposes
Tthe PM Pro software uses the active frame configuration file to populate the various entities that PM Pro uses such as party-lines, IFB program sources and talent destinations, panels, directs / 4-wires and group keys.  As well as showing the live & current crosspoint information inside the matrix
When the frame is not connected to the software the user will see items in the palette area greyed out and the names of devices will the represented by question marks, party-lines and IFBs in the canvas area will not have names attached, instead question marks will be shown.
PM Pro uses / saves the following configuration files:
• PM Pro palette and canvas screen layouts (*.ccr files). The current installation opens at the last project you worked on. However, you will lose your work if you do not save the configuration layout before updating PM Pro. The xx.ccR file stores the relative boxes for partyline, IFB and 4wire viewer information it does not store the active assignments made by PM PRO
Any assignment made by PM PRO are stored in NVRAM on the frame unless a black (full) reset is made which will clear out and PM PRO assignments
• The EHX system configuration(s) (*.hxn files) that relate to your PM Pro configuration(s) are used by PM PRO to only find the matrix IP address. PM PRO then communicates with the frame to upload the current port names, partyline, IFB etc names and the current crosspoint information.
