Optocore: When installing Optocore software which options should I install?
Question: I'm installing Optocore software v2.14 onto a laptop, the installer is asking which version to install, Workgroups, Client / Server or Client only. I am installing the software onto a single laptop PC, which option should I choose?
Answer: In Optocore Control v2.13 and higher software, there are three installation options – CLIENT ONLY, CLIENT AND SERVER and WORKSTATION.
If you require to control the Optocore network from only one computer – you should choose the Workstation mode. This mode is preferred, when there is no need to use multiple Clients.
For more complex controlling scheme, with multiple Clients, you could take advantage of Client/Server mode. The Server is connected to the Optocore Network by RS232 or USB cable. All Clients can manage the Optocore network through the Server connected to the same LAN network. You can set the access restrictions for each client separately.
On Clients computers, which are not directly connected to Optocore device install the “Client only” mode.
