HelixNet: How do I wire up a CAT5 to XLR cable for HelixNet
I want to use my HelixNet system over CAT5 cable, so that the HX-BPs connect to a CAT5 infrastructure How do I make a XLR3 to CAT5 adapter
XLR | CAT5 |
|
---|---|---|
1 | Orange & orange/white (RJ45 2 & 1) | GROUND |
2 | Blue , Green & brown (RJ45 4,6 & 8) | PWR +ve30v and Digital Audio |
3 | Green/white, Blue/white & brown/white (RJ45 3,5 & 7) | PWR-ve 30v and Digital Audio |
Wire the Cable Screen/Shield/Drain wire to pin 1 or XLR Shell. Pin 1 of the XLR is connected to the internal GND of the Helixnet
Note: Cable Shield/Drain should be connected to XLR pin 1 for shield continuity. And that’s not only true for Cat5/Cat6, it’s also true for all twisted pairs as well.Note: Clear-Com recommends the use of shielded twisted pair cabling.
