Term: What are Matrix +3 "Offline" and "Online" modes?

In a Matrix +3 system that is connected to a PC via serial connection the PGM-Win software can operate in two different modes:
"Offline" mode allows the system programmer to make changes in the software configuration without affecting the actual frame operation.  When in this mode the PGM-Win software background will appear red.
"Online" mode allows the system programmer to make changes in the software configuration in real time with the connected frame, that is changes to the configuration when APPLIED are carried out without the system having to be reset.  Audio changes, changes to station labels (adding or deleting), changes to port status are carried out instantly.  The screen background in this mode is green.
