Matrix: Can I swap the single-mode fibre transceivers on the E-FIB card to multi-mode

Question: I have 3 Eclipse frames linked by E-FIB. The transceivers on the E-FIB card support single mode fibre optic cable. The customer already has existing multi-mode fibre cable installed. Can Clear-Com supply a multi-mode transceiver for the E-FIB card.
Answer: You wanted to know if we could supply multi-mode transceivers for E-FIB card.
After some investigation we have found that there are two options
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE USE OF 3RD PARTY FOM is possible but is untested and unsupported
a) You can use mutli-mode transceivers - note multi-mode cable runs are limited to  around 200-300m using multi-mode cable 850nm

b) You can use “fibre mode conditioning” cables - which allow single mode transceivers to be connected to multi-mode cabling.
The use of these cables is fairly well established in the telecoms world. Please do an internet search for “fibre mode conditioning cables” to source a local supplier of these types of cables.
Here are some web links that explain what fibre mode conditioning cables are and how they workhttp://www.lanshack.com/ModeConditioning.aspxhttp://www.l-com.com/multimedia/catalog_page/2K9M1_176%20Fiber%20Optic%20Mode%20Conditioning,%20MPO%20Cables.pdf
