HelixNet:: Which cable is a better fit for HelixNet power lines?

Question:  I found a long spool of 9460 Belden shielded cable in the house. Will that do for HelixNet power lines? Can I use it instead of the 9207 Cable?

Answer:  Here is the difference between the two cable types:
Belden 9207

20 AWG with foil and braided shield
Lower inductance and capacitance numbers
A braided shield is a benefit with HelixNet power lines, this will result in less RF leakage and crosstalk issues if multiple power line cables are run in close proximity to each other.  It is one of our recommended cables in the HelixNet user manual.

Belden 9460

18 AWG with only foil shield / drain wire. Capacitance and inductance numbers are a bit higher on this cable This cable seems more suited to analog audio applications.
It would probably be wiser to stick with 9207 as it has better shielding characteristics as noted above and we have some experience with 9207 cables on HelixNet installations.
