Matrix: What type of issues will I see with mismatched Eclipse software and frame firmware?
Possible issues with mis-matched ECS software (Version 5.1.3) and frame firmware (version 4.2.16):
1. Download to frame via ethernet or serial (apply changes to frame only) causes frame to reset as though a RED reset were taking place.
2. Download dialog box hangs up with download status, doesn't show the message download successfully completed.
3. Changes to panel key mapping don't take place.
4. Attempting to get the Matrix Firmware Report from the Matrix Hardware On-line screen fails, error message displayed.
5. Attempting to go "On-Line" results in a error message.
If these errors are seen it is advisable to run a Matrix Overview report to verify rack firmware version, MVX-A16 firmware version and panel firmware version. Another way to determine rack firmware would be to access the information screen on certain panel types (i-station, ICS-92, ICS-2003 and V-Panels).
Solution update: with ECS V5.2 on the PC and a mis-matched firmware in the Eclipse frame. The ECS layout screen will show a RED matrix icon with the only option for the user to update the matrix firmware before normal key mapping and downloads will be allowed
