Matrix: What is the BAL-16 interface

The BAL-16 interface is a passive 1RU interface that provides 16 channels of transformer balanced input / output connections to the Eclipse / Drake 4000 and Matrix+3 intercom matrices
The BAL-16 provides 16 channels of transformer isolation for up to 16 direct interface ports to the Eclipse matrix. The transformer isolation eliminates the hum and noise caused by ground or earth loops. Each channel handles bi-directional audio. The bi-directional audio lines are transformer isolated. Each data pair (i.e., call/RS422 receive and send) is connected, indicating to the Eclipse status software that the port is in “direct” mode and connected
The unit has 16x RJ45 connections which allow for connection to the intercom matrix. There are 2x DB25 male connectors for inputs 1-16 There are 2x DB25 female connectors for outputs 1-16 These DB25s can be used for connection to multi-pair cables or to existing cable looms
