Matrix: ECS 5.2 matrix upload questions
In ECS V5.2 we have a new way to manage configurations
Project (Layout screen) > matrix > configuration manager > live & stored configurations
a) Project (layout screen) shows all the matrices you are controlling
b) Inside each matrix there is a configuration manager which looks after each configuration for each matrix. So you can have many maps for each matrix
The "live" map is the map which is edited in ECS and downloaded to the matrix
Exporting a project will export all matrices in the layout screen and all the configurations attached to each matrix and all remote key assignments
Exporting a configuration only (via the configuration manager) will export only the configuration data and not other data like matrix IP address or remote key assignments etc..
How does this relates to your question.
1) In the project (CR1OZ) I select Layout and from the context menu of particular Matrix (CR1) window I chose Configuration - Upload Configuration from Matrix frame. After that program shows the window: Unsaved changes will be lost. Would you like to save CR1 in Layout CR1OZ1 before it is closed? Yes/No/CancelAnswer: Selecting YES: the system says you already have a configuration on your PC with the same as the configuration being uploaded from the matrix do you want to overwrite the PC version with the uploaded version
2) When I choose yes (maybe also no), next window shows: This configuration is already applied in this network. Would you like to create a duplicate and apply it to this frame? Yes/NoAnswer: the system is now asking if you want to overwrite the original file on the PC or create a new fille_name (new name = old name+1) Select YES
3) I choose No and it looks like the configuration from the matrix is stored in Configuration manager (I hope so :).Answer: this means do not up load and you have not made any changes , you still have the original file that was on the PC
4) When I would like to export uploaded configuration from the Configuration manager and click to the Export icon, the program shows the window named "Save As" with this message:"The newly exported configuration will be removed from the system. This will cause remote keys to be deleted." Yes/No
Only when I choose Yes, I can save the configuration file from the next window....
Answer: Select YES - means you want to export the configuration so that it will work with a standalone matrixa) If you export a Project then you export all files... IP address info , trunkline settings all key assignments. This gives you a xxx.CCN file b) If you export a configuration (via the configuration manager) then you export only the configuration data (no matrix IP address , trunk line info or remote key assignments) ... this will create a xxx.CCC file.
Therefore exporting any configuration (via config manager) will remove any links with the Layout screen and give you a map for a standalone matrix.If you save the current configuration within the configuration manager then it save all the data (as part of a linked system)
