How do I upgrade the Mentor RG firmware?

The following how-to-do article explains how to upgrade or roll-back the firmware on a Mentor RG sync pulse generator.

Instructions

If you prefer, a Trilogy Support can upgrade the Mentor RGs if TeamViewer access is available, or this can be done by following the instructions below:

To upgrade the Mentor RG you will require two files; ‘spgRG_noFPGA.spg’ and ‘spgRG.spg’ these can be supplied by contacting Trilogy support at support@trilogycomms.com

Before the upgrade, although not essential, we would recommend making a safe back-up of the Mentor RG configuration file first. See the user guide for further information.

The upgrade of the Mentor RG is a two step process.

Step 1:

Browse to the MentorRG, we would recommend using Chrome if possible. Go to Admin > Software Update > File Loader page, select ‘Choose File’ and browse to the spgRGnoFPGA.spg file you have downloaded. Click ‘Load File’ to apply.

If the version you are currently running is prior to v6.0.1.0 it does not show a progress bar whilst the upgrade is taking place (this is fixed in v6.0.1.0) so please wait approximately 5 minutes for the upgrade to occur.

When the upgrade completes the browser will say 'Upgrade Successful' and prompt you to reboot the unit.

Reboot the MentorRG and continue to step 2.

Step 2:

Browse to the MentorRG, go to Admin > Files > File Loader page and browse to the spgRG.spg file you have downloaded. Click apply.

You should now see a progress bar, when the upgrade completes the browser will say 'Upgrade Successful' and prompt you to reboot the unit.

Reboot the RG to complete the upgrade. When the unit has rebooted browse the status page to confirm the unit is operational.

Before the upgrade, although not essential, we would recommend making a safe back-up of the Mentor RG configuration file first. See the user guide for further information.
