Arcadia: IVC Connection Process and related event log messages

This article explains the IVC connection process between two Arcadias,

and between an Arcadia and LQ or Iris panels.

Example of messages seen in the Arcadia event log:

arc ivc disconnect.png

"... did not answer in required time"

This means that a new connection attempt was made but no response was received in the specified time.

In the IVC connection process diagram for Arcadia to Arcadia (see below) this would occur after step 1, and this prevents moving on to step 2.

"...Remote host is offline"

This happens when an already established connection experiences packet delivery timeouts (Data packets) and the connection is therefore given up.

This log message would only show up once the connection state has passed step 2.

TCP socket connection

Caller to server

Only used in a background service to establish if the server is reachable (TCP port 6002).

When the unit is reset this must pass once before instances of [1] are sent.

1

IVP New Frame

Setup UDP connection

Caller to server

UDP protocol.

Destination IP address and port as specified in the CCM setup page

On Arcadia server systems this will be UDP port 6002.

2

IVP Accept Frame

Server to caller

Accept message sent back on the established connection.

The IVP connection is now established.

Respectively, if LQ produces similar logs, the "... did not answer in required time" log message would come out after step 3 and "...Remote host is offline" would only be seen once the connection state is past step 4.
