PK-7 Power Cycles

Question: My PK-7 does not power up correctly when connected to my intercom system and turned on.

Answer: PK-7 has a built in protection circuit to protect against cable shorts and attempts to draw more than 400mA from the unit. Additional protection is in the PK-7’s external power supply.

The following should be tested;

  • Verify that system wiring is not shorted or intermittent.
    Fix any wiring issues.

  • Verify that the PK-7 is not being overloaded by too many beltpacks, exceeding its 400mA capabilities.
    Load the PSU appropriately.

If the PK-7 needs to be powered on before connecting to the intercom line then there is a chance that the PK-7 is being used with an older power supply - discontinued part number 400071Z.
Replacing the power supply with a newer power supply - current part number 453G042 should allow the PK-7 to power up with the load connected.

The power supply type can be recognized from its Efficiency Level specification.

New 453G042 - Efficiency Level VI

Old 400071Z – Efficiency Level IV
