Clear-Com : Can we connect 2 channels from an 8 channel AES67 stream
I have a technical question regarding the number of ports used on an E-IPA card when operating in a 2110 configuration. Some of our customers’ devices, only support audio streams with 8 channels. However, even if the CCU cameras only use 2 audio channels, the stream must still be formatted as an 8-channel stream.
If I understand correctly, this means each 8-channel stream uses 8 ports on the E-IPA card, regardless of how many channels are actually active.
Is there any solution or workaround that would allow us to only use 2 ports when there are only 2 active audio channels in the 8-channel stream?
Answer:
The answer is yes BUT..not using NMOS, it must be done manually using SDP files
Use an eight-channel SDP and select the channels you need into a 2-wide stream:
Configure a 2 channel stream on the IPA card
In the RX setting of the AES67 stream , manually add the 8-channel stream SDP file from the other manufacturer
We can then select which 2 channels we want
Otherwise you will need an audio shuffler to sit in between the Clear-Com and the other device
