Encore : Triggering relays with Analog Partyline call signal
Clear-Com EclipseHX and Arcadia provide GPIOs capable of being driven by extensive logic.
RDL has an excellent relay as part of their Stick-On series which detects audio and fires a relay: https://rdlnet.com/product/st-vox1/
Sometimes it is useful to be able to use an analog partyline (either Encore, or via LQ or Arcadia) and trigger a remote device when the call signal is activated.
An unloaded (no long cables, few beltpacks) analog partyline has 24VDC-30VDC between pins 1 (ground) and 2 (power) on a standard mono partyline.
The call signal generates 5-12VDC between pins 1 and 3 (audio).
This means that (depending on trigger voltage) most standard 24VDC relays can be used to convert a 2-wire partyline into a relay output:
Relay Connection | XLR Connection |
---|---|
DC + | Pin 2 |
DC - | Pin 1 |
IN | Pin 3 |
