How does the Nearby Panel function work in Local Advanced in EHX?
The purpose of the nearby panels function is to prevent feedback from panels that are close to each other and using the loudspeaker. If all panels use headsets there is no need for this function. It works by blocking audio between the two panels under certain conditions.
Under the “Nearby Panels” tab of Local Advanced, you will see a grid showing crosspoints between all panels on the local matrix. These crosspoints can be empty, red, black, or red/black. Here is what each of these means:
Empty - no blocking of audio will occur.
Red - All audio is blocked between the nearby panels
Red/black - Audio is blocked only to the loudspeaker of the receiving panel. Audio to a headset on that panel is not blocked. This is referred to as “nearby panel partial”. The nearby panel partial setting is found in the panel options section of cards and ports.
Black - Nearby panel partial is checked in cards and ports, but no blocking of audio will occur.
When both cards/ports and Local advanced are on you get nearby panel action .
You have to set it ON for BOTH panels otherwise you can end up with one panel not hearing the other
