Ring Central on SIP/IPA
With the release of EHX V14, the IPA card now directly supports SIP connections, without the use of an LQ. This page will describe how to configure Ring Central accounts on an IPA card. Many of the details are similar to the LQ configuration, and are detailed in Solution:RingCentral which forms a part of this solution.
Make sure your IPA card has a valid gateway and DNS server to allow it to reach Ring Central.
The first step is to configure the Ring Central SIP server in EHX. Select hardware->SIP telephony and click “+SIP Server”:
On the Ring Central site, select Phone System->Phones and devices-> User Phones, and select a pre-provisioned phone line, such as “Existing Phone” on the first line below:
You will see a screen now like this; choose set up and provision:
You’ll now see this; choose “set up manually using SIP”
The next page that comes up will give you the info you need to configure EHX:
Be sure to select “no” for TLS 1.2, and choose an outbound proxy for your geographic area. For IPA/Ring Central, we are always going to use proxy port 5090.
Now returning to EHX, we are going to enter the info for the SIP server, and then configure individual lines. Click “+SIP Server” and enter a name of your choice, the proxy server you chose, port 5090 only, and sip.ringcentral.com as the SIP domain:
You will now click “+SIP Account” and add the individual lines. For user, copy the full phone number from Ring Central, followed by “#”, then copy the authorization ID, with no spaces. See the format above. Copy the password into the password field. Give it a meaningful label. The “associated port” field will be empty until you complete the next step:
Navigate to the IPA card in cards and ports, click “+port”, select “ SIP (IPA) and give it a label. Then, in “telephony options” on the right, drop down SIP server and select the server you added, drop down SIP account and select the account you just created. Apply this map to matrix, and give it a moment to register. If everything was entered correctly, you will see a green “on-line” dot next to the port, and also next to the account on the SIP telephony page.
The following 2 points are worth repeating:
Only use port 5090
The user name is the phone number, #, authorization ID, with no leading or trailing spaces.
Lastly, ring Central has a maximum of 4 lines allocated to a single proxy IP from the same IP address. IF you need more than 4 lines, create an additional SIP server using a different proxy IP.
