Aug 29, 2024 Meinberg US support have confirmed that you cannot use NTP to lock the oscillator for proper PTP. We tried ourselves and it did not work. What we saw is that every 20 minutes or so, it seemed that the Meinberg would try to resync to NTP and this created a disruption to the PTP on the network which would make most if not all RPNs resync
The recommended configuration is to have a GPS antenna or leave the unit free running
