Some well known brands customers have used in the past are

  • David Clark

  • Bose

  • Sennheiser

  • Beyer Dynamic DT 790 (double ear) or Sennheiser HMD 280 (double ear) or HMD 281 (single ear) headsets

  • 3M™ PELTOR™ CH-3 Headsets (re-termination or cable adapters required to XLR4; helmet P3E adapters for safety helmet use)

We usually then advise to use double muffed over the ear headsets in noisy areas

If using a single ear headset then using a 3M foam plug into the open ear helps

On all FreeSpeak and Helixnet beltpacks, check the status of the limiter. As this is enabled by default, try turning the limiter off and increasing the master volume at the beltpack and not the crosspoint level (standard rotary operation on FSII), and reducing the gain elsewhere if clipping.
