Can I convert my Delta matrix into a Median Matrix

If your existing Delta frame isn’t big enough anymore and you need to add more cards, you can easily convert your existing configuration from a delta to a median, to suit your new larger matrix

We are planning to get a new median matrix for our studio. That is going to replace the existing Delta matrix. We are planning to move the 2 CPU cards and all the rest of the E-IPA, and Analog cards of the existing Delta matrix to the newly proposed Median matrix. I have the following questions:

  1. Do we have to configure the controller cards from scratch if we move them from the existing Delta matrix to the new Median matrix?

Answer: You do not have to start from scratch , the CPU cards will remember the current delta configuration. You only need to tell the CPU cards they are now fitted into a Median matrix

2. Or can we simply insert the CPU cards from the existing delta matrix to the new Median matrix and the cards will automatically recognize the new Media matrix and retain all its configuration?

Answer: yes, simply insert the old CPU cards into the new median frame

make sure the other matrix cards are in the SAME order as they were in the Delta frame

3. Do we need to make any configuration changes for any/all the cards transferred from the existing Delta matrix to the new Median matrix?

Answer: Yes in  EHX you need to change the matrix type from delta into median

  • open the Delta map

  • go to layout screen

  • change matrix type from delta to median

  • Save project

4. We have trunk lines with another remote matrix, on the existing Delta matrix. Will these trunk lines be simply transferred from the existing Delta matrix to the new Median matrix, or must we re-configure those?

Answer: The trunk lines will be transferred but !!! double check

  • The trunk port number have not changed in the layout screen

  • The trunk lines are going to the same place

  • And make a download to all frames (with reset) once you change over to the median frame.

Note!! if you are using IP directs – please check the IP direct settings are correct
