HMS-4x Linking and LQ login general setup questions

I have a couple of questions about our setup that maybe you could help with:

We have a total of 4 HMS-4X master stations

  1. Cinema (link member)

    Great hall (link member)

Theater level 3 A  (Link master)

Theater Level 3 B (link member)

Q. Is it ok to have 3 link members? Or are we limited?

A. It is fine to have 3 link members. A link-group can contain up to 6 members.

Q. Should the two theater level HMS-4x’s be linked or should they be in an expansion group?

Keeping in mind we will need the ports on the back of the units once the interface modules are delivered.

A. Setting up the HMX-4X’s in an expansion group will allow them to behave as if they are one panel (eg. Shared microphone/headset, key activations)

Linking the HMX-4X’s will allow you to use the ports from each station and share the audio to linked members. I believe you need the stations to be linked.

Please note that if the host is licensed for 24 channels, the linked HMS-4x must also be licensed for 24 channels in order to use all 24 channels across the linked set.

Q. The 12 key groups are all created on Theater level 3 A  (Link master) they can then be accessed in each venue.

Is this the correct way of doing it or should venue specific groups be created on each HMS-4x?

A. This is an acceptable configuration. As long as the HMX-4x are linked, the audio can be shared to any of the linked members via the shared Channels.

Q. A belt-pack connected via partyline in the cinema and a belt-pack in the theater connected via the theater’s partyline

Both select a common channel i.e. “Cinema stage” . Currently you are unable to speak to each other party line to party line. Are we missing something very obvious?

Or is it only IP to IP that can work?

A. As long as both beltpacks are talking/listening to the same channel that is configured on the host master station, they should be able to communicate. They do not have to be IP to IP.

Q. On the LQ box Webpage we have some errors that say invalid username and a yellow triangle. Is there something obvious we can check?

We recently had a power outage and when the system was booted back up the last config file was loaded. I am not sure it is completely correct or not.

It did lose out descriptions an some label names. I am not sure if this has anything to do with the above.

A. In EHX, find the port configured for the LQ on the E-IPA card. In the properties for that port is a section called “IP Port Options”. This is where the Username and Password are set for the LQ.

Please check that these credentials match the credentials set in the Accounts section of the LQ.
