HelixNet: Can HelixNet be deployed on Layer 3 routed networks?

Yes, HelixNet predominantly uses Unicast and can be deployed on routed networks with the following exceptions:

  1. Link by Name
HelixNet utilizes multicast mDNS to advertise and link by device names. Without multicast capabilities on the network the workaround is that HelixNet endpoints will need to be paired by entering the IP address of the main station the unit needs to connect to for the initial pairing/linking of the endpoint. Unless the main station changes IP addresses, the user stations will connect always to the main station thereafter.

2. HRM / HMS Expansion Mode
Multiple HRM and/or HMS units can be linked to allow for more than 4 keysets for a single user. The Expansion mode relies on the use of multicast and mDNS. Without network support this feature will not be available.
