Concert: Does the Concert server support YUM updates?

We do NOT recommend using Yum updates on your concert server. The Concert server installation has been specifically tailored to match Clear-Com requirements and doing a general yum update could lead to system instability.
We have found that performing a "yum update" on theConcert server will result in an upgrade of the kernel which will break theoperation of the Interface Gateway application. This is tobe expected since the driver for the ASI5640 4-wire audio card hardware was specifically tailored to the 2.6.32-220 kernel version.
Here is asummary of kernel versions per distribution: CentOS 6.3 (Concert DVD):2.6.32-220.23.1.el6.i686
after performing a yum update:2.6.32-431.1.2.0.1.el6 Redhat 6.22.6.32-202 Redhat 6.3:2.6.32-279 If thecustomer has performed a yum update already, the simplest way to recover is tore-install both CentOS and Concert using the Concert DVD. This wasthe primary reason for not supporting customer installs of CentOS withoututilizing the Concert DVD.
While NOT recommended <there be dragons> customers can edit the yum.conf to "exclude" key dependencies frombeing updated when performing a yum update:
Edit the config filevi /etc/yum.conf
Append the followingexclude=kernel* perl* irqbalance* php* postgresql*PyXML* httpd* mod_ssl* It will look like
[main]cachedir=/var/cache/yum/$basearch/$releaseverkeepcache=0debuglevel=2logfile=/var/log/yum.logexactarch=1obsoletes=1gpgcheck=1plugins=1installonly_limit=5bugtracker_url=http://bugs.centos.org/set_project.php?project_id=16&ref=http://bugs.centos.org/bug_report_page.php?category=yumdistroverpkg=centos-releaseexclude=kernel*perl* irqbalance* php* postgresql* PyXML* httpd* mod_ssl*
