Matrix: I-1430 panels lose panel key programming when when moved to new ports

Question:  We are moving some of our i-stations to different ports on our Matrix +3 frame and have noticed that when the panels are moved they don't retain their settings, they connect to the new port but show a blank screens where the key programming used to be.  Why don't the panels retain their settings?
Answer:  The panel do not retain their programmed key sets when they are moved to a new port that has no key programming associated with it.  The panels are in essence dumb panels when disconnected from the frame port, the frame port contains all the programming for the panel including key sets.  When moving a panel from an existing port to a new unprogrammed port the existing key sets do not carry over to the new port.  The new port will need to have key programming carried out in order for the panel keys to be active.
