Partyline: What is the purpose of the jumpers JB1 and JB2 on the MR-202 PL panel?

Question:  We have several MR-202 headset remote stations. One of these has lost its latching ability, and we are assuming it will need to be replaced.  The MR-202 works fine otherwise. Is it possible to have the latching function repaired?

Answer:
JB2—Latch Disable
Check that the internal jumper on JB2 is not in the closed position.  Setting the Latch Disable jumper to the CLOSED (both pins connected) position will disable the latching function of the Talk button. In this mode, the Talk button must be held in continuously while the operator is talking.
JB1—Long Line
If a long cable run is unavoidable and approaches 1,000 ft. or more, set the Long Line option jumper to the CLOSED (both pins connected) position. The ability to set a sidetone null depends upon properly setting this jumper.
Note: The default position of the jumpers is in the OPEN (only one pin connected) position.

Note the MR-202 is discontinued and has been replaced by the HB-702 unit http://www.clearcom.com/product/partyline/wall-mount%2Cspeaker-stations
