Wireless: How do I install a Firmware update on a Tempest Basestation?
TheTempest basestation can easily be upgraded using a PC that has internetconnection
TheTempest code updater programme will connect to the internet and download thecurrent version of firmware for your basestation
Ifyour PC does not have a internet connection, then you can upgrade the basestationmanually following the steps below in BLUE
Please follow the following steps for upgrading the Tempest Base StationFirmware:1. Start the Code updater application, it willconnect to the internet and show "online" in the bottom right handcorner of the screen 2. Prepare the Base Station for updating
- With the Base Station power OFF, press and hold the "MIC KILL" button and power the Base Station ON
- The Base Station LCD should indicate that it is ready for a "New Image"
- Connect the USB cable from your PC to the USB B connector on the front of the Base Station
· Activate the Code Loadersoftware and observe that a connection is made to the Base Station
3. Locate the target device· The Code Updaterprogram will automatically locate the device and observe that it connects tothe connected basestation
· The code updater willshow the current version of the firmware in the basestation and the latestversion available.
· The code updater maydisplay that two files are required for upgrading (DSP and PIC)
· The banner of CodeUpdater should indicate what target you are attempting to program - In thiscase it should say "base"
4. Upgrade the Basetation· Select both or either DSP and PIC file
· Click the"Upgrade" button
· The target will selfprogram and boot
To verify that the upgraded beltpack contains the new firmware version goto the beltpack Tech Menu > Diagnostics and verify the version number shownon the display.Pleasefollow the steps below for Manually upgrading the Basestation Firmware:
1. Download the firmware for either the 4-channel or 2-channel BaseStation (hex file) 2. Download the DSP & PIC files (hex file) 3. Prepare the Base Station for updating- With the Base Station power OFF, press and hold the "MIC KILL" button and power the Base Station ON
- The Base Station LCD should indicate that it is ready for a "New Image"
- Connect the USB cable from your PC to the USB B connector on the front of the Base Station
- Activate the Code Loader software and observe that a connection is made to the Base Station
- Click the "Locate Device" button in Code Updater
- The banner of Code Updater should indicate what target you are attempting to program - In this case it should say "base"
- Click the Advanced Tab and then the "Browse" button and locate the Firmware (.hex) file that you located in step 1 above
- You may only upgrade one Base Station Firmware file at a time (DSP or PIC)
- From the Basic Tab click the "Upgrade" button
- The target will self program and boot
