I-station and the e-station or expansion panels can be upgraded using 2 methods, With the panels connected to the matrix they can be upgraded via the ECS firmware updater or the panels can be upgraded offline using a direct PC to panel connection.

The I-station and the e-station or expansion panel use different wiring schemes when serially updating the application firmware in the panel.

These cables are used in conjunction with a terminal program (Tera-Term) and stand alone PC.
This allows the user to update an i-station or expansion panel off-line of the frame with out using the ECS firmware updater.

The proper firmware version is dependant on the version of ECS software/firmware deployed on the frame. This can be determined by reviewing the customer release notes for the version of ECS deployed.
