Matrix: Troubleshooting Matrix +3 frame serial connections
Question: I am trying to connect to my Matrix 3 Compact 72 frame using a serial connection. I'm using the Matrix Plus 3
version 2.4.1 software. I "run as" the program as Administrator. When I try to go on-line to the Matrix from the software I get
a "Frame is not responding check serial port" error message.
I notice that the Com Port settings on the PC are 9600 baud etc. but the PC Settings in the software are set to 57600 and not
changeable. I assume I need to use an ordinary non-proprietary male/female serial cable.
Answer: I would suggest that you double check the following:
1.) Matrix +3 frame, reseat the config-1 card if possible and power cycle frame
2.) PC should be Windows XP or lower as the software is based on 32 bit systems
3.) PC serial port should be set to Com 1, 2, 3 or 4, PCs with higher com ports cannot be recognized by PGM-Win software
4.) Verify in Windows Control panel / System / Hardware that the selected com port is available and has no issues
5.) PC serial port settings, Baud rate: 9600, Data Bits: 8, Parity: None, Stop Bits: 1, Flow Control: None
6.) Check the serial cable, it should be pin for pin cabling
7.) If you are using a USB to serial port adapter make sure the drivers for the adapter are installed on the PC
