Partyline: Does the MS-702 main station support direct connection of CellCom CEL-TA antennas and CEL-BPs?
Question: I have a consultant that has specified CEL-BP wireless belt packs, and a CEL-TA Antenna to be used with a MS-702 base station. Is it possible to use this equipment combination and have a functional system? It is my experience that the MS-702 is strictly a wired system. If this won't work, which product do you recommend?
Answer: The MS-702 party-line main station is strictly a wired only system, it has no wireless capability, it is a 2-wire unbalanced wired intercom system, it cannot directly support CellCom antenna or beltpack connectivity.
Connect the MS-702 PL CHL-A or B to the CELLCOM wireless basestation PL CHL-A or B XLr3 connectors on the rear of the wireless basestation .. The Cellcom antennas connect to the CELLCOM base and the CEL-BP wireless units are registered to the wireless basestation. This will allow the CEL-BPs to talk/ receive audio on either CHL A or B from the MS-702 unit
Regarding the CellCom Wireless intercom system, in order to use it with the MS-702 the user needs the following items:
• CEL-TA antennas (up to ten antennas)
• CEL-BPs (up to 20 beltpacks on system)
• CELLCOM-BASE (the base station which supports up to 10 antennas and 20 beltpacks)
Without the CellCom base station the CEL-TAs and CEL-BPs will not work on their own. The base station is needed in order for the antennas and beltpacks to work, the base station is also needed because it provides the 4-wire and 2-wire audio links to the MS-702 party-line wired IC.
Clear-Com also makes a different version of CellCom called CellCom Integra, this version uses our Eclipse digital matrix frame, it doesn’t use the CellCom base station but a wireless frame card that fits in the Eclipse frame that takes the place of the CellCom base functions.
Almost all of Clear-Com's and HME's wireless IC offerings require a wireless base station as part of the mix as this links the operation of local transceiver / remote transceiver antenna modules with associated wireless beltpacks and also provides wired connectivity to 4-wire and 2-wire intercom systems.
