Matrix: Do I need to replace Median / Omega frame PSUs in pairs?
Question: I have a 2 year old Omega or Median frame with one defective power supply that needs to be replaced. Can I replace just the one defective supply or do both need to be replaced?
Answer: Both the Omega / Median series Eclipse frames were fitted with a universal PSU (part number #720379Z) at the start of December 2009. These universal PSUs can be identified by the silk-screening on the front panel of the PSUs, each new type PSU will say PART No 720379Z. These part number PSUs can be replaced singularly.
Older Omega frames will have PSUs with an internal sticker fitted: 740101Z for Eclipse Omega (15 slot). Do not fit into any other Matrix type. If one of these PSUs fails they will need to be replaced in pairs with the current 720379Z PSU as the older Omega PSU is no longer available.
Older Median frames will have PSUs with an internal sticker fitted: 740134Z for Eclipse Median (7 slot). Do not fit into any other Matrix type. if one of these PSUs fails they will need to be replaced in pairs with the current 720379Z PSU as the older Median PSU is no longer available.
The old Omega and Median PSUs are not repairable and need to be replaced with the new 720379Z universal PSUs.
