Wireless: Connecting a Tel-14 to a Cellcom/Freespeak Base-station
In order to connect a Tel-14 (telephone interface) to a Cellcom/Freespeak base-station, one needs to connect a CAT5 audio crossover cable from the Tel-14 Matrix port to one of the 4WIRE I/O of the base-station. This will the beltpacks on the basestation to talk to a user over the phone line.
Note that the Tel-14 can connect to 2 POTS (analogue fax) phone lines so using a second 4wire port of the base-station will allow for 2 phone connections.
The only setup on the Tel-14 unit is to place DIP switch #6, position 5 to OFF. Do this for A and B sides if you plan on using 2 phone lines.
Using the CellCom Configuration Editor or the base-station front panel, set the 4WIRE port as any other 4WIRE to be able to Talk and Listen from a belt-pack, the base-station or as a group for example composed of many belt-packs.
This setup allows for minimal and basic control. It works as follows; The remote caller will call the Tel-14The Tel-14 will automatically hook the connection (auto-answer) until the caller hangs up. The base-station and any belt-pack user set to talk to a 4WIRE port will be able to hear and talk to the caller.
Solution update: The Tel-14 interface needs to be housed in a IMF-102 frame. If Tel-14 is placed near a parallel telephone the operator can manually dial out from the phone and press the on hook button on the front of the TEl-14 unit to hold the line on once the call has been answered. In CellCom V2.0 or later the basestation supports IFB operation. The 4wire connected from the basestation to the TEL-14 could set up as a PGM/IFB line.
