Matrix: How can I find out the firmware versions of the Median and Omega frame CPU and Port cards?
Question: We purchased a Median frame 1 year ago for our TV station and it has been working perfectly for us. We now have surplus money in the budget for maintenance and we want to purchase a spare CPU processor card and a spare MVX-A16 card for the frame as backups. What information do we need to provide in order to get the same firmware versions on the backup cards?
Answer: The information needed will be provided in the ECS firmware report which can be generated from the ECS 5.1 Matrix Hardware screen online mode / firmware report button, if ECS 5.2 is being deployed the firmware report can be accessed by the System / Layout / right click on frame box for menu options / firmware report. Once the report is displayed it can be saved and opened as a spreadsheet in Excel to view the system firmware versions of the frame cards and panels connected to the frame ports.
Below is a section of the firmware report with the CPU card and MVX-A16 card firmware highlighted, from this information the proper replacement / backup cards can determined by accessing the customer release notes for a particular ECS version release.
Highlighted items:
ECS software version 1.106.1.3o434 = ECS software 5.2.2
CPU application rack FT1.46.2.0 = rack version 1.46.2.0
CPU boot code CPU481Cb = 1Cb
MVX16a application HDLC 710425 = MVX16A46
With this information and the ECS customer release notes the user can determine that ECS 5.2.2 software and firmware is embedded on the frame and connected PC.
