Matrix: How do I add a 4w (4wire direct) port to the Eclipse matrix?
No matter what version of ECS you have, to create a new port for a 4w it is necessary to go to Matrix hardware (or cards and ports) where you can see the list of ports.
Once in there look for a free port and select "Direct" on the "Port function" column, type in a name on the "Talk" and "Listen" columns, (5 characters each) and click on a different port row to enter the changes.
Now you can configure the new 4w port in the panels that need to communicate with it, a talk or a listen key or a combination of both will be necessary. Go to Configuration --> PanelsSelect the panel(s) that needs communication with the new 4w, find the new 4w port in the colcored talk and listen columns and then click and drag and drop on the desired key in the panel or click on the 4w port column and then click on the desired key.
You can also add the 4w to fixed groups or party lines depending of the requirements.Go to Configuration --> Fixed groups or Configurations --> Party linesSelect or create the FG or PL where you need to add the 4wThen look for the new 4w label under the "Available members" list and double click on it to make it an "Attached members", you should see the label showing up in the list on the right hand side.
Once the configuration is done, it is necessary to send the changes to the matrix frame so, go to "apply changes" --> "options" --> check the first box to reset the system and click on "ok".
The easiest way to verify the new 4w port is by adding a talk and a listen key(s) to a panel and checking that there is audio in both directions. You can use a tone generator to inject audio and an amplified loudspeaker to listen to the panel's microphone.
